Millie Bobby Brown dropped the very first teaser trailer for the Godzilla sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
The Stranger Things star posted the teaser to her Instagram saying, “Reach Monarch.”
Take a look:
Brown’s character Madison Russell is seen trying to contact the Monarch organization through a radio. While she doesn’t get in touch with them, she does hear a “Mayday call” before violent sounds begin to flood the radio waves. Brown’s Russell can’t handle the violence as she covers her ears and curls her body up into a ball. We can only imagine these are some of the ferocious monsters Madison Russell and Godzilla will encounter in the upcoming film.
Brown’s Madison Russell is the daughter of Vera Farmiga’s Emma Russell. The two are kidnapped early on in the film and are forced to work with a mysterious organization who is attempting to use Emma’s scientific breakthroughs to control the monsters.
It’s more than likely Brown’s Madison is trying to reach out to her potential rescuers after she has already been kidnapped.
Kyle Chandler’s Mark Russell will team-up with Monarch, which has become a much more robust organization from the first film where they dealt with Godzilla and the two MUTOs, in order to rescue his ex-wife and daughter.
However, things are going to go from bad to worse for Russell and Monarch as a number of classic Godzilla foes emerge to wreak havoc on the planet. These foes include King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan.
But Godzilla will have new abilities and potentially new allies of his own. In our first look at Godzilla, it was revealed that Godzilla will be using his atomic breath. But it’s not just a weapon. Director Michael Doughtery described it as a “sort of call to arms.”
Here’s the official synopsis for the film:
“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters on May 31, 2019.
