Director Quentin Tarantino released a brand new trailer for his ninth film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Take a look.
Tarantino described the film as “the closest thing I’ve done to Pulp Fiction” in an interview with Esquire. He adds that it is “probably my most personal. I think of it like my memory piece. Alfonso [Cuarón] had Roma and Mexico City, 1970. I had L. A. and 1969. This is me. This is the year that formed me. I was six years old then. This is my world. And this is my love letter to L. A.”
Tarantino provided some more details on how the title is just perfect for the film:
“Well, there is a fairy-tale aspect, so the title fits pretty good. But this is a memory piece also. So it’s not historical fact per se. It is a Hollywood ofreality—but a Hollywood of the mind at the same time. I was so happy with the title, but I was afraid to put it into the atmosphere. Whenever I referred to this project, I referred to it as Magnum Opus. A movie came out two years ago called Once Upon a Time in Venice. I go, ‘That was scary.'”
Here’s the official description for the film:
“Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognize anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.”
The film features a star-studded cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio as Rick Dalton, Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth, Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, James Marsden as Charles Manson and, Al Pacino as Marvin Schwarzs.
The film is expected to hit theaters on July 26, 2019.
