‘Rebel Moon’ Director Zack Snyder Says He Doesn’t “Get” The Hate For Amber Heard: “I Would Work With Her In A Second”
In a baffling declaration that genuinely feels like it could only be made by someone who spent the last two years living on another planet, former DCEU architect Zack Snyder has admitted that not only is he openly confused as to Amber Heard’s recent loss of reputation, but that he would also “work with her in a second” if given the chance.

The Justice League and Batman v Superman director shared his thoughts on the disgraced actress’ current social profile while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Borys Kit in promotion of his upcoming sci-fi epic Rebel Moon.
Following a lengthy discussion surrounding the ins and outs of the soon-to-launch Netflix franchise, the interview eventually saw Kit inquire as to whether or not Snyder still kept in touch with any of his old DC co-workers, to which the director affirmed that he was mainly in contact with his Justice League’s resident buddy-cop duo of Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
Specifically speaking to the topic of his relationship with Miller, Snyder revealed that he has not only been an occasional member of Miller’s recovery through his recent personal and legal troubles, but that he also greatly admired the actor’s performance in The Flash.
“[They] did a great job in that Flash movie,” opined Snyder. “It’s very difficult to play against yourself.”
Staying on the topic of ‘DC actors who have since torpedo’d their own career’, Snyder then pivoted his attention to Heard, noting to Kit that he was “dismayed” – word choice Kit’s – to see the backlash the actress had faced after losing her now infamous legal battle against ex-husband Johnny Depp.
“I just don’t get it,” explained the director. “If other people don’t like her, I don’t know what to say. I would work with her in a second.”
For those who may need a refresher as to why Heard’s career is now in the toilet, following a lengthy legal battle, a Fairfax County, Virginia jury found on June 1st, 2022 that the now-former actress had both defamed Depp and “acted with malice” by authoring her now infamous Washington Post op-ed.
Specifically, the jury was tasked with determining whether or not specific statements found within the op-ed, despite not naming Depp directly, were intended to defame her ex-husband and if Heard was responsible for their publication.
Conversely, in the case of Heard’s $100 Million counter defamation claim, the same jury found in favor of the actress regarding her accusation that Depp’s former Attorney, Adam Waldman, made certain false statements about her to the press while acting as the actor’s representative.
However, in her claim that Waldman’s statements were made “with actual malice,” the jury ruled against her, ultimately awarding the actress only $2 Million in damages.
As of writing, the first half of Rebel Moon is set to land on Netflix on December 22nd.
From there, the second half of this first story will follow in April, with, as described by Snyder, “a graphic novel, a podcast, and a photo book” releasing in the interim.
Meanwhile, Heard’s last – at least for the foreseeable future – blockbuster appearance can be seen when the dead-in-the-water Aquaman 2 flounders into theaters on Christmas Day.
