Jeremy Renner will reportedly star in a Hawkeye series that will tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and debut on Disney’s upcoming streaming service, Disney+.
Variety reports the series will see Renner return in his role as Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye and pass the torch to Kate Bishop.
Kate Bishop’s character was heavily hinted at in the Avengers: Endgame trailer, where you can see Renner’s Barton training a young girl to use the bow and arrow.
However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe might use a variation of Kate Bishop and instead use Hawkeye’s daughter named Lila.
If this report turns out to be true, it would confirm Kevin Feige’s statements about introducing “different incarnations of characters” we already know as well as introducing “completely new characters you never heard of before unless you’re a comic fans.”
Kate Bishop is a relatively new character in the comics. She was created by Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung and first appeared in [easyazon_link identifier=”B005HWEP70″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Young Avengers #1[/easyazon_link] in 2005.
Kate was the daughter of Derek Bishop, an extremely wealthy publishing executive that afforded Kate a life of luxury. However, she would become a social advocate and perform charity work. Bishop decides to become a hero after she is attacked one night in Central Park with the heavy insinuation that she’s sexually assaulted. She dedicates her life to training in archery, fencing, sword fighting, self-defense, and other forms of combat.
She would eventually join the Young Avengers and bankroll the team after she helped the Young Avengers take down a number of gunmen who crashed her sister’s wedding.
She would eventually raid the Avengers’ supply closet to create her uniform. She would use Mockingbird’s Battle Staves and mask, Swordsman’s sword, Black Widow’s utility belt, and Hawkeye’s bow.
Captain America would even approve of her use of Hawkeye granting her permission to use the moniker.
