Ron Howard Reveals Most Uninspiring Title for Han Solo Film

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Ron Howard took to Twitter today to announce the end of production for the upcoming Han Solo film, but while doing so he also announced the official title of the film. In the most uninspired and completely unoriginal movie title, he revealed the movie will be called, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

I’m sorry, but that’s one of the most unimaginative movie titles I’ve ever heard. Here are some random movie titles that evoke Star Wars, but have a little more imagination behind them. The Kessel Run. The Hutt Crisis. Hell, even if they had followed the idea between Rogue One and called the movie the Millennium Falcon it would have been better than just Solo. Plus, naming the movie Solo doesn’t even make sense given where they went with The Force Awakens. Han Solo isn’t the only Solo in the Star Wars universe anymore. Kylo Ren or Ben Solo is in Star Wars canon.

Unlike The Force Awakens and the upcoming The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story will be a stand-alone self-contained story. The movie is supposed to tell the story of Lando Calrissian and Han Solo’s first encounter. Ron Howard has also hinted the story will involve Correllia, Han Solo’s home planet. The Millennium Falcon is also a Corellian YT-1300f light freighter. This most likely means the freighter was manufactured on Corellia. Howard also alluded to Kessel, made famous after Han Solo’s boast that the Millennium Falcon made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

The movie is also expected to make canon a pair of minor characters from Dark Horse’s non-canon Star Wars Tales series. The two characters in question Tag Greenley and Bink Otauna were revealed in a tweet earlier this month.

Screenwriter Jon Kasdan confirmed their appearance.

Basically, these two guys somehow find themselves crossing paths with every major Star Wars player. They end up in the wrong place at the wrong time and become heroes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke as Kira, and Woody Harrelson as Beckett. The movie hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
