Rotten Tomatoes Releases List of Most Anticipated December Movies – Aquaman in Surprising Spot!
More good news for Aquaman as the hype train rolls on into the night. The heir apparent to the throne of Atlantis conquered another battle by topping the Rotten Tomatoes list of five most anticipated movies opening in December. Far from the only franchise or comic book character on the list, Aquaman blew all its competition out of the water with an astounding 10,107 Want-to-See Votes.
No. 2, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was left in the dust, garnering a meager 1,183 votes — yikes! The animated Spider-Man flick does, however, boast a fresh rating of 100 percent on the site. Aquaman’s hefty tally of want-to-see votes gives the film a preliminary rating of only 97 percent, by contrast.

Still, that is great news for James Wan’s swashbuckling epic which had its doubters at first. October box office projections were pessimistic, but Aquaman is breaking records for early ticket sales and its reception before its release is nothing but positive. Fans and critics from all over are crazy for the film’s style and scale.
Signs point to Aquaman doing just fine. Star Jason Momoa, who underwent the process of production from start to finish and has been a part of this character and his world for the better part of the last 2 or 3 years, pitched sequel ideas to Warner Bros months ago because he is confident about the picture. It’s a good sign that Momoa remains as enthusiastic as the day he was cast about where he and Wan can take the adventures of Arthur Curry in the future.
As for RT’s list, Mary Poppins Returns and Bumblebee round out the top 4. Slot 5 was split between real-life historical dramas Mary Queen of Scots starring Saoirse Ronan and Harley Quinn herself Margot Robbie and Vice, Adam McKay’s chronicle of the life of former US Vice President and Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, played by former Dark Knight Christian Bale. Neither film received anywhere near 1,000, votes.
Voting was conducted on social media via RT’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
What do you think? Will Aquaman be the winner to take all at the box office this month?
