Rumor: America Chavez To Play Important Role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

A new rumor details that recently created Marvel Comics character America Chavez will play an important role in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film.

The rumor comes from The Illuminerdi who detail they’ve got their hands on a casting call for a teenage Hispanic female to play a supporting lead in the film.

The Illuminerdi believes this casting call points to America Chavez writing, “There are few major Marvel characters who fit that exact bill, with America Chavez being the most prominent of them.”

Chavez also has multiverse powers along with flight, superhuman speed, and superhuman strength. Her multiverse powers involve the creation of Star Portals and smashing them. Upon smashing them, she can travel throughout the multiverse as seen in Young Avengers #7.

Given Chavez was also part of the Young Avengers team, and much of Marvel’s Phase 4 indicates they plan on introducing new, younger Avengers such as Kate Bishop and Ms. Marvel, it’s likely they would want to introduce Chavez at some point as well.

In fact, there are even rumors that Marvel plans on putting together a New Avengers movie based on the Young Avengers line-up that includes Kate Bishop, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot, Wiccan, Statue, and a new version of Vision. Chavez would join the Young Avengers in the books second volume. It’s also possible Kid Loki and Speed could feature as well. Both characters have been rumored to appear in the Loki and WandaVision Disney Plus shows.

But while Chavez fits the bill, there are a number of other Marvel Comics characters who also fit that description. Those characters include Firebird, Ava Ayala aka the White Tiger, and Anya Sofía Corazón aka Spider-Girl.

It’s also quite possible that Marvel Studios could be racebending or genderbending any number of characters. They have proven with their casting over the years they have no problems changing the races and genders of well established characters.

They made it very clear they are not opposed to racebending or genderbending in the casting of their upcoming Eternals film, where almost the entire cast of characters was racebent and genderbent.

It’s also possible this casting call could be for a non-superhero character or even possibly an original Marvel Studios character. A teenage female hispanic character leaves a lot of options open and doesn’t necessarily mean America Chavez or any Marvel Comics superhero.

What do you make of this rumor about America Chavez? Would you want to see the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
