A new rumor indicates Warner Bros. Animation is working on a solo Deathstroke film.
The rumor is the latest increasing buzz surrounding the DC Comics villain. In recent years, he took on the role as a main villain in Arrow played by Manu Bennett. We even got a super tease in the post-credit scene of Justice League with Joe Manganiello suiting up as Deathstroke.
In fact, there was a rumor that indicated Manganiello’s Deathstroke would have been the marquee villain in Ben Affleck’s abandoned Batman movie. There were also reports that Manganiello’s Deathstroke would even get his own solo film. And, lo and behold, there might be some progress on the latter’s front, at least in animation.
Revenge of the Fans broke in an exclusive, and is extremely confident, that Slade will be the star of his own DC Animated adventure. The site did not name any actors cast, not even Slade himself, only that Warner Bros. Animation is working on it, asserting San Diego Comic-Con is the most likely place anything substantial will crop up.
This adds to their slate which currently includes features based on Batman: HUSH, the rumored The Long Halloween (in two parts), and rumored [easyazon_link identifier=”1401201911″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Superman: Red Son[/easyazon_link]. Revenge of the Fans also believes there is a Batman Beyond animated film in the works.
The Batman Beyond rumor has seen conflicting reports. TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzalez indicated it was not happening noting that Warner Bros. told him, “Not true. We are not working on an animated Batman Beyond movie.”
No, there is NO BATMAN BEYOND movie in development! Their official word is “Not true. We are not working on an animated Batman Beyond movie.” In fact, to be extra sure, it was checked & shot down at Warner Animation Group on feature side, DC FILMS, & WB Animation on TV side. pic.twitter.com/fei3bczq0F

Regardless, WB Animation is exemplary with its adaptations of DC characters and stories. Any movie surrounding Deathstroke will no doubt be great.
Slade Wilson’s most notable incarnations are the portrayal by Manu Bennett on Arrow and Joe Manganiello’s in Justice League which should’ve led to bigger and better things. Joining their company is Esai Morales who will don the bifurcated orange and blue helmet of Slade in season 2 of Titans. Idris Elba might be playing Deathstroke in The Suicide Squad but that is unconfirmed.
Deathstroke makes frequent appearances in DC Animated projects. The last time we saw him in a feature-length cartoon was last summer in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, voiced by Will Arnett. An ongoing cartoon is also in the works for CW Seed (which could mean Revenge is getting their intel mixed up).
How do you feel about Deathstroke getting a movie? Of any kind? Let us know in the comments.
