Samuel L. Jackson Reveals Captain Marvel Can Time Travel

Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just revealed that Captain Marvel has the ability to time travel.

In an interview with E! Online, Jackson boasted about Captain Marvel’s intense powers.

“She’s pretty much the strongest character in terms of someone with powers that are able to do things in the Marvel Universe, so for Carol Danvers to be that person—and for Brie to become that person—it’s gonna be a dynamite thing.”

He also noted that given the fate of the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War with many of them falling to the might of Thanos, the Avengers are going to need another heavy hitter.

Jackson hints that heavy hitter is Brie Larson’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B07HCYH149″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Captain Marvel[/easyazon_link].

“I mean, they’re up against some really, really tough odds right now we saw throughout Infinity War. So now we know we need something that’s as powerful as Thanos. And at some point, we’ll find out how powerful she is and all the things that she’s capable of.”

And she’s not just extremely powerful, apparently she has the ability to time travel.

“She’s one of the few people in the Marvel Universe that can time travel.”

Jackson might have just broken the internet confirming what many fans have suspected for some time. Avengers: Endgame will involve time travel.

A number of theories had indicated that time travel would happen through the Quantum Realm given Scott Lang’s arrival in the first Avengers: Endgame trailer.

However, there is one theory that used Erik Selvig’s detailed chart from Thor: The Dark World to posit that not only will there be time travel, but Avengers: Endgame could also really explore the multiple dimensions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as revealed in Doctor Strange.

It’s possible Captain Marvel’s time travel abilities might be needed in order to access the interdimensional time travel posited in the Erik Selvig theory.

It’s also possible that Captain Marvel’s ability to time travel throws the interdimensional theory completely out the window.

I’m sure with the revelation that Captain Marvel can time travel, there will be plenty of more theories on how she will factor into Avengers: Endgame.

How Captain Marvel Connects to Avengers: Endgame

As for trying to find glimpses of what we can expect in Avengers: Endgame in Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel executive producer Jonathan Schwartz revealed Captain Marvel is a “self-contained story.” He added, “It will tell you everything about that character who shows up in Avengers 4. But really, it’s the story of Captain Marvel very specifically.”

Schwartz then teased Captain Marvel’s connection to Avengers: Endgam, “It will lead very organically into what you saw at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and it will leady very organically into what you will see in Avengers 4.”

Schwartz reiterated, “But for the movie itself, it’s its own self-contained adventure. And I think that’s kind of what’s fun about these movies: ou get a full, complete satisfying experience that has tendrils reaching into other branches of the cinematic universe…if you’re looking for them.”

What do you make of the fact that Captain Marvel can time travel? How do you think this ability will affect Avengers: Endgame?
