Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow Film in Production as Set Photos Surface

Scarlett Johansson, director Cate Shortland, and Marvel Studios’ upcoming Black Widow film appears to have gone into production as a number of set photos and a couple of set videos has surfaced.

According to Twitter user okbanana the film is being shot in Saebo, Norway.

More importantly, Scarlett Johansson is back to sporting Black Widow’s iconic red hair. The blonde is gone.

The first set photo shows her on a boat with her red hair.

Another photo shows Natasha Romanoff purchasing groceries from a local store.

Here’s a video of her entering the store with a couple of men and then exiting by herself. One can only wonder what went down inside the store.

There’s more set photos of her exiting a white car and entering the store.

And then we get a set video of Scarlett leaving the store and driving away.

The set photos and Natasha’s red hair don’t really give us any details as to the plot or when the film is taking place.

Black Widow sacrificed her own life in Avengers: Endgame so Hawkeye would be able to obtain the Soul Stone and they could bring their friends back after Thanos snapped them out of existence.

It’s possible the Black Widow film could be an alternate reality. Marvel is already diving head first into that exploration based off the trailers from Spider-Man: Far From Home which indicate Mysterio is from a different Earth where Spider-Man does not exist.

Most rumors point to the film taking place in the past specifically 15 years after the fall of the Soviet Union. Those rumors also indicate Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier could feature in the film.

However, back in February, Marvel reportedly hired Ned Benson to rewrite the original script written by Jac Schaeffer.

Following Benson’s reported hiring, rumors began swirling that Taskmaster could be the main villain in the Black Widow movie. Those rumors pointed to André Holland taking on the role of the character inspired by the Ultimate Universe version of Taskmaster.

Johansson previously described what she wanted out of a Black Widow film:

“I love playing this character and I think there’s definitely an opportunity to explore the Widow as a woman who has kind of come into her own and is making independent and active choices for herself probably for once in her life. She hasn’t always had that possibility. If it fit that criteria then, yes, I would want to do it.”

She will reportedly make $25 million for the solo Black Widow film.

What do you make of these set photos and videos? Are you glad to see Black Widow’s red hair is back?
