See What Henry Cavill Could Look Like as Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Henry Cavill’s future as Superman is somewhat in doubt. While he hasn’t announced his departure, the hope of a new movie for the Last Son of Krypton showing up in another DC flick appears to be of secondary concern to Warner Bros. right now.
That could drive him to seek greener pastures in another cinematic universe, but if Cavill jumped ship to Marvel, who would he play? An intriguing proposition comes courtesy of digital artist Boss Logic, who posted a mock-up of the Jersey-born actor as Adam Warlock to Instagram.
In his “Quick rework,” Boss Logic adapts a still of Cavill as Geralt in The Witcher and changes the color scheme to match Warlock’s red-and-blue getup from the comics. For good measure, he adds a glowing gem to the center of his forehead and — a fashion choice Cavill is used to by now — a flowing cape. That and his eyes glow too.
Check it out.
This is some fan casting on the part of Bosslogic many others are bound to agree with. Teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it was speculated Adam Warlock might appear in either Avengers: Infinity War or Endgame, given his history with the Infinity Gauntlet. Of course, that was not to be and we will have to wait until GOTG Vol. 3 for him to debut.
Zac Efron, hot off his turn as Ted Bundy, has come up in the conversation but Warlock has yet to be cast. A 4 Chan rumor stirred the pot by saying he is being “eyed” for the part and could fight alongside the Guardians, Thor, and Beta Ray Bill against the High Evolutionary.
Boss Logic had some fun with the idea of Efron in the role as well two months ago, responding to what he called “a rumor casting.”
Henry Cavill would be an excellent choice for Adam Warlock. He’d hardly be the only actor to jump from one comic universe to the other. It worked out fine for Zachary Levi and Ryan Reynolds.
Cavill’s status with Warner Bros. was alleged as tumultuous with bitter contract disputes ongoing between the two sides. Those allegations turned out to be the product of rumor and sensationalized reporting, contradicted by Jason Momoa who stays in touch with Cavill.
The Witcher wrapped production and should begin streaming on Netflix later this year. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was delayed following director James Gunn’s shortterm firing. Now that he is working on The Suicide Squad, Gunn won’t likely tackle the third installment of the Marvel franchise until 2021.
