‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Receives Worse Critic Score Than ‘The Last Jedi’

Solo: A Star Wars Story

The Rotten Tomato score for Solo: A Star Wars Story has finally been released and it might not be good news for Disney and Lucasfilm. The film currently has a 71% Tomatometer rating. But that’s not even the bad news. The score received an average 6.4/10 based off of 96 different reviews.

This score is drastically worse compared to Star Wars: The Last Jedi which received an overwhelmingly positive critic score with a 91% Tomatometer rating. It had an average rating of 8.1/10 based on 374 reviews.

Now, you might be thinking that 71% isn’t a terrible score, but if you look at how Star Wars: The Last Jedi performed with the audience, it could mean the movie is actually really, really bad. Star Wars: The Last Jedi received a 47% audience score with an average rating of 2.9/5 from 192,630 reviews. That’s a 44 point difference from the critic score.

If you factor in a similar drop from the critic score for Solo: A Star Wars Story, it’s not looking pretty at all. The audience score could come out to 27%.

However, a mediocre critic score could actually mean the film resonates with audiences. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s most recent blockbluster Rampage received a terrible 51% Tomatometer. But to no one’s surprise, it has an 81% audience score. Avengers: Infinity War boasts an 84% Tomatometer score, but audiences loved it even more. It has a 92% audience score.

My bet is that Solo: A Star Wars Story is a little bit better than what the critics are saying. It’s probably not on the level of Rogue One, but it will probably be a fun and enjoyable experience. I know I’m actually looking forward to it after seeing the last trailer.

The interaction  between Donald Glover’s Lando and Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo looks like just how I would imagine it. I’m also intrigued by the huge train sequence and obviously the land speeder chase looks to be the highlight of the film.
