A few weeks ago Wesley Snipes took to Twitter to say who he felt should take over as Blade. To the surprise of some, he posted a photo of himself. He is once again pushing a return as the legendary day walker. But if Marvel doesn’t want him to become Blade again, he’s also open to play another character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wesley Snipes put Blade and comic book movies on the map all the way back in 1998. The original Blade movie was one of the the first major comic book character movies to do well at the box office. Blade debuted at #1 and went on to gross over $131 million with an R-rating. Blade arguably laid down the foundation for the successful Marvel Cinematic Universe we see today. The film was ahead of its time.

Snipes most recent pitch to take on the role of Blade came in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

I am very much open to all of the possibilities. If Blade 4 comes along, that is a conversation we can have. And there are other characters in the Marvel universe that, if they want to invite me to play around with, I am with that too. I think the fans have a hunger for me to revision the Blade character, so that could limit where they could place me as another character in that universe.

It’s not dissimilar to 2015 interview with HuffPost. Wesley Snipes made it clear that there has always been a chance for another Blade movie. In his own words he explains his optimism and how even with him being a little older than his last appearance as Blade in Blade: Trinity.

“There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”

Tell me, if Wesley Snipes doesn’t reprise his role as Blade; who’d you like him to play? Do you want to see Blade get a reboot? Would you want new Blade movies or a television show? Tell us in the comments below!
