DC Universe released a terror-filled first official Swamp Thing trailer.
Take a look:
Here’s the official description of the show:
“SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.”
The show has been at the center of controversy lately. The show was originally scheduled to have 13 episodes for the first season, but was reduced to 10 episodes. In an email sent to DC Universe subscribers, DC explained the decision was made “for creative reasons.”
The initial reporting of the first season reducing its episode count also indicated that it could spell trouble for the streaming service. However, DC Universe reassured subscribers in their email that the change in episode counts does “not reflect the future of DC Universe.”
In fact, they touted that they are launching DC Universe on Xbox One and just expanded their comics library for the service from 2,500 titles to over 20,000. The email also stated, “We continue to thrive beyond all our wildest expectations, and are incredibly excited to keep building a platform for fans, informed by fans.”
Swamp Thing comes to DC Universe on May 31st. The show will join Titans, Doom Patrol, and Young Justice Outsiders as part of the streaming platform’s DC Universe Original Series. They are also developing a Stargirl live-action series and a Harley Quinn animated series. A Metropolis series is also in development.
Swamp Thing stars Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, and Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne.
