Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke took to Instagram to profusely thank Game of Thrones fans for raising thousands of pounds for her brain injury charity, Same You.

Clarke specifically singled out Game of Thrones fans on the Freefolk subreddit including Elle Elaria.

Clarke states in her video:

“So I think I’m pretty late to the game on this but Elle Ellaria and your Reddit page, you guys! You are raising money for SameYou. I can’t believe it. I’m so incredibly moved and blown away and grateful and thank you and thank you and thank you! It’s extraordinary what you guys have done. You’ve given me a wrap gift. This is what this is. I’m genuinely completely lost for words. Someone told me about this and I saw it and was just…mindblowing. Thank you so much. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! You are Recovery Champions. You guys are literally helping me and in doing that you are helping us to change the world. Change the world of recovery. Change the world of brain injury.”

She would add in her Instagram post:

“Ok so ‘speechless’ is a very fluid term…. that I’ve ignored in this rambling video BUT how could I be when there are so many thank you’s to give to YOU AMAZING HUMAN BEANS!!!!! Bloody hell, I am one very lucky lady to have such kind, generous, shining spirited fans who are raising money for my charity SameYou.”

She concluded:

“I couldn’t think of a more beautiful way to wave goodbye to the mother of dragons than with this step towards making brain injury sufferers feel less alone.
YOU ARE MY HEROS. I am the one who should be bending the knee to you.”

At the time of her Instagram post, Clarke indicated the Freefolk subreddit had raised almost £38,000. At the time of this writing, the subreddit indicates their latest tally is £95,171 or $120,538.

Clarke’s charity SameYou is “dedicated to increasing access to rehabilitation after brain injury and stroke for young people.” As many Game of Thrones fans know, Clarke revealed in March she suffered two life-threatening brain aneurysms while filming Game of Thrones.

She described her first life-threatening brain aneurysm which occurred in February 2011 to CBS This Morning:

“Basically I was in the gym, the most excruciating pain, like an elastic band just went, like, snap in my head. An enormous amount of pressure suddenly, and then very very very quickly, I realized I couldn’t stand and I couldn’t walk, and in that moment I knew I was being brain damaged.”

She would have a speedy recovery and return to work on Game of Thrones Season 2 in just six weeks. Two years after her first aneurysm she would suffer a second one.

“So, with the second one, there was a bit of my brain that actually died. If part of your brain doesn’t get blood to it for a minute, it will just no longer work. It’s like you short circuit. So I had that. And they didn’t know what it was. They literally were looking at the brain and being like, ‘Well, we think it could be her concentration, it could be her peripheral vision [affected].’  I always say it’s my taste in men that’s no longer there! That’s the part of my brain, yeah, my decent taste in men.”

Not only is the Freefolk subreddit raising funds for Clarke’s SameYou charity, but they are also raising money for MenCap for Kit Harington. They have currently raised £40,208 or $50,925. They are also attempting to get HBO to match their donations and are encouraging other fans to retweet the following.

What do you make of the charitable donations made by the members of the Game of Thrones Freefolk subreddit? What do you think about Emilia Clarke’s response to their charitable giving? Do you plan on donating?
