A second season of Peacemaker is a foregone conclusion. We know it is coming; it’s just a matter of when – between James Gunn busying himself with Superman: Legacy and the actor/writer strikes getting sorted out.

According to ComicBookMovie, season two will be a long way off, landing in either 2025 or ‘26 at the latest. However, Gunn made it clear he is working hard on the scripts. On Threads, he claimed they are “halfway written” and have his attention when he isn’t bogged down with Legacy.
The series’ star John Cena is doing his part to tease the return of Christopher Smith too. On Instagram, the wrestler-turned-actor posted a photo of Smith’s signature helmet with no caption to get people talking.
Cena had the opportunity to talk about it himself at the Iron Claw premiere when Variety caught up with him. As the topic turned to Peacemaker, he expressed a reserved confidence toward the project’s fruition. “Man, I hope we see more Peacemaker,” he said. “I sure as hell had a fun time doing that.”
“I know they’re shifting some things around over at DC, but I know that James Gunn’s made some statements that we’re going in for Season 2, and what he says usually he does,” he added.

Why Cena might not be clear on the matter is the strikes kept conversations with Gunn minimal at best. “Well, there was a time we couldn’t talk to each other,” he explained.
“I’m glad that time is over. And once we can talk again, he’s my friend first and foremost, so I just welcomed him back to work and wished him well. We’ll play our cards beyond that,” he continued.
Barring another strike or more shifts in power at DC and Warner Bros., all signs point to a sophomore season of Peacemaker, however long it takes. Gunn has repeatedly stated he is writing it and, moreover, that Cena and Vigilante actor Freddie Stroma will be part of the DCU.
