Swamp Thing is currently filming and set photos have leaked. DC announced the new live-action series based on the Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson character for their streaming service, DC Universe, earlier this year. Now, fans are being treated to their first look behind the scenes while production is underway.
A fan account unaffiliated with DC posted the following images of actors Andy Bean and Crystal Reed, who play the tragic hero Alec Holland and Abigail Arcane respectively acting out a scene on a boat.

Clearly, showrunners are laying the groundwork for Abigail and Alec’s budding, but strange romance. She doesn’t have her usual silver-blonde hair like in the comics, but that could always change if the character develops abilities. Kari Wuhrer played an alternate iteration of Abigail in the 90s Swamp Thing TV series that didn’t have blond hair either, so a dark-haired Abby is nothing new.
Produced by Aquaman director James Wan and his company Atomic Monster, Swamp Thing will be a one-hour program written by famed television writer Mark Verheiden and IT writer Gary Dauberman. Bean and Dauberman are also working together on IT: Chapter Two, where Bean plays the grown-up version of Stanley Uris.
Len Wiseman is directing the pilot, but rumor has it Wan is pitching in as well.
The show stars Crystal Reed as Abigail “Abby” Arcane, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, and Andy Bean as Alec Holland, the biologist who becomes the plant-man creature known as Swamp Thing after a lab accident.

Swamp Thing is expected to join Titans and Doom Patrol as part of DC Universe’s slate of original programming in May or the summer of 2019.
What do you think? Are you excited for Swamp Thing? Will you stand an Abigail-Alec ship?
