Every Superman cartoon, save for a few short-lived ones, allowed for the inevitable meeting between the Man of Tomorrow and the Dark Knight. From Superman: The Animated Series to Justice League and Super Friends — even Zack Snyder couldn’t resist the temptation in live-action. However, the latest in Superman toonage breaks from this trend and will continue to.

According to show producer Josephine Campbell, My Adventures With Superman, which is getting a second season, won’t be in a hurry to introduce Batman despite references confirming he and Gotham City exist. The Superman Homepage YouTube channel was excited about an Easter Egg in the form of a Gotham Gazette headline, but the channel sounded happy with the focus staying on Superman.
The host observed in a chat with Campbell, “Now, as soon as the word or the title, ‘Gotham Gazette,’ got thrown up, fans online jump straight to, ‘Batman, Batman, Batman.’ As a Superman fan, I’ve got nothing against Batman, but as a Superman fan, please tell me we’re going to be concentrating on Superman in Season 2…” She had a simple, straight answer.

She said, “Oh, yeah.” That’s also an indication there will be more “more mentions of Gotham.” Campbell added, “I mean, this is a Superman show. We have brought in some other characters like you said, Vicki’s [Vale] from Gotham, there’s some mentions of Gotham. But, for us, the whole point of this is, it’s about Superman.”
Just as much, “It’s about Lois, and Jimmy, and the focus is always going to be on them. We love Superman so much. I’m excited to see [Batman: Caped Crusader] when that comes out. Definitely, there’s still going to be some more mentions of Gotham, so keep an eye out. But, at the end of the day, Superman is our hero.”
For Batman, there is always season three. When it comes to other characters, there is no such embargo. MAWS didn’t shy away from Deathstroke, Livewire, Silver Banshee, or Doom Patrol arch nemeses The Brain and Monsieur Mallah. In season two, Campbell and her team plan on incorporating Zod and Brainiac, so count on at least two of Superman’s greatest rivals causing trouble.
