Red Queen Novelist Victoria Aveyard Gets Roasted After She Tries To Run Interference For Prime Video’s The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power
Red Queen novelist Victoria Aveyard got obliterated on social media after she attempted to run interference for Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Following the release of the latest teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Twitter user MasteroftheTDS criticized the show writing, “This could literally be any generic fantasy show and you would never know the difference. Defiling the works of Tolkien for agenda and destroying the mythos for diversity.”
Aveyard took issue with the tweet and implied MasteroftheTDS was racist by writing, “imagine being mad at diversity in the new LOTR show.”
Aveyard made clear her implication in a follow-up tweet replying to a user who described MasteroftheTDS as racist based on the tweet.
The user wrote, “racist tolkien fans are so boring. it takes an insultingly spectacular lack of imagination for someone to claim they love the universe tolkien created, but the minute there’s someone of a different skin colour suddenly it has to be homogenous and closed. it’s *fiction*.”
Aveyard responded, “It’s also not insane to update the perspectives of a series written many decades ago, truly not the end of the world!!”
Her attempt at not only attacking MasteroftheTDS, but also running interference for Prime Video was met by Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings fans who subsequently roasted her.
ShadowofLogic tweeted, “Imagine requiring diversity in the new LOTR show.”
Tre Courtney questioned, “Was their diversity in Black Panther?”
Technop34171264 tweeted, “Imagine removing the beards off the dwarven women trashing the lore because having beards isnot sexy enough for amazons marketing. Progress is great until it hurts the bottom line, then you gotta stick to the typical ‘women on screen gotta be sexy’ stereotype.”
Notorious_TET tweeted, “Imagine having a blue check but still begging for attention.”
“Just don’t get mad at my blonde haired blue-eyed white black panther,” wrote Avery Lawton.

Baldmanbad3 shared a gif of Ron Burgundy blowing a seashell with a caption that reads, “Shill Team Assemble.”
“Current projection of people actually realizing how much forced diversity hurts the content, the actors and stories themselves. This tweet wont age well,” wrote Coderaven24.
The user added, “Sheep aren’t falling for this anymore, good news is the bots and die hards will stay on the titanic with you.”
TheQuarterMafia tweeted, “108l followers and (at the time of this comment) 110 likes. Your followers are bots.”
HammerSinghs wrote, “Why are you white people so concerned in about putting my brown face in white lore?”
“This argument is so f***ing tired, as it’s the same one made every time some corporation buys up a once-beloved franchise and pisses all over it with fake-diversity to cover up for s***ting storytelling,” wrote ClownShoesZomg.
He added, “I hope you at least get paid to shill this hard.”
Ed Bell tweeted, “Tolkien was a historian, and I think everyone realizes how he patterned Middle Earth after Europe. Therefore, geographically, the races are also aligned. By adding individuals of color, for no other reason other than being Woke….goes against that concept.”
Stig Kenobi also wrote, “That is not what he is angry about, and you know it. Try again. But he honest this time.”
MasteroftheTDS would also reply writing, “When it doesn’t fit the lore established by Tolkien since it was based off of the mythology of England…”
He added, “Yah, that’s kind of a valid criticism. Not mad either but you seem to be skilled in projecting so that doesn’t surprise me. Maybe go write more of your own stories?”
It was reported back in May 2021 by Deadline that Aveyard’s YA novel series is being adapted by Peacock with Elizabeth “set to play a major supporting role and direct the potential series, which she and Max Handelman are executive producing through their Brownstone Prods.”
While the series is supposed to stream on Peacock, it’s being developed by Warner Bros. TV with former Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and Aveyard writing the series.
