Valiant CEO Confirms Quantum and Woody Pilot Being Shopped Around
Valiant CEO Dinesh Shamdasani not only spoke to us about Eternal Warrior, Bloodshot, and Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe, but he also gave us an update on Valiant’s Quantum and Woody television show that is being produced by the Russo Brothers of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War, and Community fame.
Watch:
Dinesh gave us an update on where the Quantum and Woody television project is at, “The writers of Ant-Man and Ant-Man 2 have written the pilot … we’ve got a whole show bible. Right now we are just talking to different networks.” He expects to have a distribution partner for the show by the end of the year.
He then went on to confirm the rumor of Community veteran Joel McHale’s involvement, “Joel Mchale is on board to play Woody.”
We then switched the conversation to ask Dinesh where he sees Valiant fitting into the ever-changing television and movie world especially with Netflix buying up Millarworld and Amazon bringing in Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment which brought The Walking Dead to television with AMC. Not only that, but Disney is launching their own streaming service as is DC Comics.
Dinesh explained Valiant doesn’t “want to break the mold, we are not trying to fix the industry or redefine the industry. We just want to do the straight and narrow. We are going to do books the same way everyone else does books. Hopefully, we put more love into them and they are as good as any other book out there … In terms of breaking distribution models that’s for the big guys. We are the little guys … They can pave the way. We’re going to follow right behind them.”
We then switched to comics and asked Dinesh about their upcoming Quantum and Woody comic book series.
“It’s a brand new entry point. Perfect for anyone who hasn’t read Quantum and Woody before. It’s a very heartfelt story about two brothers that are now estranged. We don’t really know why. In this instance, it’s Quantum’s fault. He’s the straight guy. It’s almost never his fault which is kind of interesting.”
Dinesh then got very excited about the artwork, “Kano is going to do the art. He’s found a new gear. Oh my god! His pages are incredible!”
Here’s a quick peek so you can see what he is talking about:
He’s right on the money. These pages look spectacular. I know I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
