Ricky Gervais Roasts Iron Man Actress Gwyneth Paltrow for Lady Part Scented Candle

Fresh off his roast of Hollywood at the Golden Globes, British comedian Ricky Gervais took to Twitter to roast Iron Man star Gwyneth Paltrow, her company Goop, and a scented candle that is part of their “Heretic” perfume line.

The candle is titled “This Smells Like My Vagina” and Gervais took that opportunity to fire a shot across the bow at Paltrow.

Gervais wrote on Twitter, “Candle for sale. Slightly used.”

As you’d expect with a comment like that, it took Twitter by storm garnering almost two thousand comments and over 26,000 likes. Many followed Ricky’s example and offered their own roast of Paltrow’s new scented candle.

One person even asked what might be considered the most important question about the candle.

For those who cannot afford the cost of the candle, one user offered a “knock off” version if you’re really wanting to make your home smell extra “fresh”.

As described on Goop’s website, the candle started out as a joke between company founder Gwyneth Paltrow and professional perfumer Douglas Little who were in the middle of attempting to come out with a new scent to sell through the company.

According to the description of the scented candle, the Iron Man actor “blurted out, ‘Uhhh, this smells like a vagina.”

The description then details that it “evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent.”

You can read the full candle description below:

“This candle started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and GP—the two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, “Uhhh..this smells like a vagina”—but evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent. (That turned out to be perfect as a candle—we did a test run at an In goop Health, and it sold out within hours.) It’s a blend of geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed that puts us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth.”

Paltrow’s company has had a strange love affair with the female body. Back in 2018 Goop had to settle a lawsuit surrounding their vagina eggs that were marketed to assist women with their menstrual cramping and other issues related to their menstrual cycle and even depression.

But it turned out the eggs didn’t do as they claimed and the company had to deal with the California consumer protection office. The company was forced to settle due to what many claimed was false advertisement of the benefits to the human body from their products.

If you are so inclined the candle can be purchased from Goop’s online store to the tune of $75.
