Star Wars icon Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, called for a boycott of all Jimmy John’s restaurants.
Hamill took to Twitter to write, “Thumbs up to a boycott of all Jimmy Johns restaurants (with apologies for posting this obscene photo).”
Hamill’s call for a boycott came after an old photo of Jimmy John’s founder Jimmy John Liautaud resurfaced showing him posing next to an elephant he killed at a preserve in Africa.
While Hamill called for a boycott, Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio attacked Liautaud in a now-deleted Tweet.
D’Onofrio wrote, “Look at this complete DONG DING KILLING AN ELEPHANT. Well that’s it for me Jimmy John’s. No idea this guy was out there in my opinion behaving horribly toward animals. I’ve eaten at a store of his once. Never again. You choose. I have.”

In response to one user noting they would attend Jimmy John’s, D’Onofrio called him a “ding dong.”
He referred to another user as an “idiot.”
However, Liautaud spoke to the Chicago Tribune in 2015 noting that calls to boycott the restaurant stem from 10-year-old photos of him with big game such as the elephant.
He told the Tribune he doesn’t hunt big African game anymore, but stated he does choose to hunt and fish and it’s all legal.
Liautaud stated, “I choose to hunt and I choose to fish. Everything I’ve done has been totally legal. And the meat has been eaten, if not by me than by someone I’m with.”
He then declared, “I don’t hunt big African game anymore.”
What do you make of Hamill and D’Onofrio’s call for a boycott of Jimmy John’s? Will you participate in their call for a boycott? Or will you go out and enjoy a Jimmy John’s sub?
