CD Projekt Red, the video game developer behind The Witcher franchise, announced they are developing a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
On LinkedIn the company posted, “We’re thrilled to announce that we’re working on a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!”
They added, “It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content. We’re planning on releasing it for free in 2024.”
Finally, they promised new details about the editor would be shared next year, “Stay tuned — we’ll have more to share next year!”
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won over 250 game of the year awards and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
The game puts players in control of the Witcher, Geralt of Rivia as he seeks to find his adopted Ciri, the child of prophecy, who is being hunted by the Wild Hunt.
The game, which was originally released in 2015, gives players plenty of freedom as they are faced with a number of complex choices that have lasting ramifications as you progress through the game.
In fact, CD Projekt Red boasts the game “features multiple endings that result from choices you make throughout the game. With three extensive epilogues and multiple world end-states in each, the game delivers unmatched replayability.”
That replayability will likely be taken to the next level with this mod editor as player will be allowed to create their own quests and content and share them with others.
