Final Fantasy Announces Release Date for Final Fantasy VIII Remastered with New Trailer
Final Fantasy announced the release date for Final Fantasy VIII Remastered featuring Squall Leonhart and his companions.
The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Steam on September 3, 2019. They released the following statement along with the release date:
“Join Squal Leonhart on an epic adventure which will see him vie with a sworn rival, confront a malevolent sorceress, and try to make sense of his own mystifying dreams..
When the warlike nation of Galbadia forms an alliance with a shadowy sorceress named Edea, only an elite band of mercenaries, led by Squall, can come between these would-be tyrants and world domination.”

They also released a trailer for Final Fantasy VIII Remastered.
Final Fantasy VIII not only featured Squall, but introduced us to Rinoa Heartilly, Quistis Trepe, Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt, and Irvine Kinneas. The original game was released in 1999 by Square for the PlayStation. It would go on to earn $50 million during its first 13 weeks of release. In fact, it was the fastest selling Final Fantasy game until Final Fantasy XIII.
The game was previously re-released as a PsOne Classic on the PlayStation Store in 2009 for the PlayStation and PlayStation Portable. It was released on Steam in 2013. According to a press release from Square Enix, the game has sold 9.6 million copies worldwide as of August 2019.
