What is Gigantamaxing

Pokemon previously indicated that only certain species of Pokemon will have the ability to Gigantamax. They even note that only rare specimens among the species will have the ability.

If a Pokemon does have the ability to Gigantamax, it will greatly boost their size and power. They will also learn a special G-Max Movie.

Gigantamax Pokemon will typically be found in Max Raid Battles, but they are rare and hard to come by. Others like Meowrth, Pikachu, and Eevee come through either a special event or saved data from a previous Pokemon game.

Max Raid Battles

Max Raid Battles are special battles in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. They typically allow trainers to catch rare Pokemon that might have Hidden Abilities. However, it’s possible you could catch a Gigantamax Pokemon with a Hidden Ability as well!

Max Raid Battles are found in the Wild Area, which is an extensive area located in the middle of the Galar Region.

Trainers will be able to team up with three other trainers in order to challenge Max Raid Battles.

In the Wild Area, Max Raid Battles can be found by locating a Pokemon Den that emits a red pillar of light as seen above.

Trainers can also find Max Raid Battles through the in-game feature called Y-Comm. If a Max Raid Battle stamp pops up on your Y-Comm, it indicates another trainer is seeking help with a Max Raid Battle.

All you have to do is check the stamp and confirm that you are willing to help them out with the Max Raid Battle.
