A new rumor indicates that a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake or reimagining is in the works.
The rumor comes from Cinelinx, who state two different sources have stated that a Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic game is in development.
Since 2005, fans of the KOTOR games have been clamoring for a third installment of the brilliant single player RPG’s.
Apologies, my friends. It appears this iteration will not be the long awaited Knights of The Old Republic III.
What the project is reported to be differs slightly among the two sources.
One source tells Cinelinx that it will be a remake of the first KOTOR game, which debuted July 15, 2003 on the original Xbox.
The second report indicates the project will be a “re-imagining.” Jordan Maison at Cinelinx explains, “It would be a Knights of the Old Republic project that would integrate elements from the first two games in order to bring certain things into the current Star Wars canon.”
Disney/Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy has previously hinted Star Wars might go in the direction of a Knights Of The Old Republic cinematic project at some point.

Given the fact that some Knights Of The Old Republic lore has already been made official canon, the second report is rather plausible.
Last year, the Sith homeworld of Korriban was added back to official canon.

In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, Revan, the main protagonist in the KOTOR games, became canon as a legion of Sith troopers, the 3rd Revan Legion, bore his namesake.
Reddit user RhombusBB reported the information back in December.
These changes definitely seem to indicate that a Disney/Lucasfilm KOTOR cinematic project is something that intrigues the company.
It makes sense that they would want a game that could lay the foundation and start the hype train for such a movie or series. In fact, it’s possible Disney’s next Star Wars initiative will tie-in movies, video games, comics, and more under the title Project Luminous.
Rumor: New Star Wars Movies To Be Set During The High Republic Era
With the less than stellar reception of both The Last Jedi and TROS, Star Wars fans may not be excited about the company messing with KOTOR.
Both Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic and Knights of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords are seminal stories that are cherished by the Star Wars fanbase.
Disney and EA will be forever blamed for ruining another classic Star Wars era if they miss the mark on these projects.
The burning question is, will both companies learn from their past mistakes?
Do you want to see a reimagined KOTOR that moves the first two games into Disney canon?
