EA has released a new trailer for Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, hinting at the game’s story.

Despite being a new story trailer, the developer still kept things somewhat secretive. Interestingly, more information could be found in the video’s description, and there were some surprises.

Following on five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis is attempting to flee the Galactic Empire’s tightening grip on the galaxy, as Order 66 is still demanding all Jedi be exterminated. Hoping to find a safe place with others looking to survive, Cal is nonetheless flanked by doubting allies and desperate enemies.

As noted on the Star Wars official website in their own “5 Things We Noticed” post, Greez and Merrin return; the latter much to the delight of fans. A mysterious character dressed in High Republic robes, teased to be a surviving Jedi, was also introduced, and he sounded bitter Cal hadn’t stopped the Galactic Empire.

In a shockingly risky move, the trailer reveals that Cal will end up in Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Empire, and we also get a brief look at the AI Companion gameplay. Allies such as Bode and Merrin can help in combat with attacks the flow into your own combos. The official website also promises they can do more as well.

As previously reported, Cal will also have access to new Force powers and lightsaber fighting styles. Puzzles that will test the young Jedi’s abilities are also making a return.

Pre-order bonuses include a Jedi Survival Cosmetic Pack, inspired by the live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series (and somewhat fitting as it takes place at the same time as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor). The Deluxe Edition will some with the “New Hero” and “Galactic Hero” cosmetic packs.

Though previously delayed, with Respawn Entertainment stating the extra time was needed to “achieve the level of polish our fans deserve,” Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will officially launch April 28th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
