Report: Marvel’s Scarlet Witch TV Series Will Feature Another Avenger!
A new report indicates that the rumored Scarlet Witch television series for Disney’s upcoming streaming platform will also feature another Avenger.
The report from Slashfilm indicates that Paul Bettany’s Vision will be joining Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and it actually details the show might not be a Scarlet Witch focused series, but more as the two as a couple.
This makes sense given the dynamic Marvel Studios have given the characters especially with what we saw in Avengers: Infinity War with Scarlet Witch and Vision both breaching Iron Man and Captain America’s trust to meet each other despite the risks involved. That relationship would be even further explored as Vision asks Scarlet Witch to perform the ultimate sacrifice. A sacrifice that ends up being for naught due to Thanos’ manipulation of the Time Stone.
What’s even more interesting about this news is that it would mean Bettany’s Vision would somehow return from the dead after Thanos’ brutal attack on the sentient android. If you remember, Thanos ripped the Mind Stone from Vision’s head leaving his body lifeless. There are rumors that Shuri has somehow repaired Vision, but another possibility is that Scarlet Witch actually creates an alternate reality that adapts the [easyazon_link identifier=”0785117210″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]House of M[/easyazon_link] storyline.
House of M
In the comics, the House of M storyline sees Scarlet Witch create an alternate reality after suffering a mental breakdown. In this alternate reality Scarlet Witch recreates her lost children and grants the X-Men and the New Avengers their hearts’ desires. It sees Magneto come to power and take control of Genosha and influence international laws to create a racist society where mutants control the world and humans are seen as second class citizens.
Given the fact the story is very X-Men-centric this could be the perfect way for Marvel Studios’ boss Kevin Feige to introduce the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And what better way than to do it with the daughter of Magneto?
Elizabeth Olsen on House of M
Actress Elizabeth Olsen has mentioned she would be interested in adapting House of M.
“I would love to [do a standalone], and I would love it to be House of M, which is a comic book series of The Vision and Scarlet Witch having a make-believe family.
She [Wanda] believes she has twin children- she alters her own reality to believe that, but really she has a miscarriage and Vision goes along with it. Then they [Vision and her family] have to tell her that she was make-believing the entire time, and she has a very traumatic experience and screams, and kills all the mutants – but that’s an X-Men story, so we’d have to adjust the ending.”
Olsen also confirmed that Bettany is on board with the idea:
“Paul Bettany and I joke about how much we’d like to do a House of M spin-off. And a real indie version of it.”
Do you think this upcoming Scarlet Witch series could introduce the X-Men and adapt the House of M? Are you interested in a Scarlet Witch and Vision series?
