Rumor: Exclusive Superman Game Could Be Available for Xbox Series X at Launch
In an era where Batman proves more popular and bankable everywhere, especially in the gaming world, we have been without a solo Superman game for ages but that might be over with the launch of Xbox Series X.
According to a rumor started online by NeoGAF forum user OsirisBlack, a next-gen Superman exclusive is headed for Microsoft’s yet-to-be-released gaming console.

GamesRadar+ calls the rumor “super exciting but not super solid” and, likewise, deems the details “vague hints.” Still, OsirisBlack teased in some videos the arrival of a third-party Superman game for Series X along with games based on fighting game Killer Instinct (owned by Microsoft) and the Danny Boyle movie 28 Weeks Later.
The videos were posted as a reply to a question concerning third-party launch exclusives. Check them out in the thread.
You can see the Superman tease below.
Along with the videos OsirisBlack wrote the following at the bottom of his answer:
“MS is killing it …. literally. This is the most excited I have been for a MS console ever and I have owned them all but if half of this shit is shown, MS E3 is going to be hard to beat.
everyone is worried about specs and I am telling you this will be the best games arms race since Nintendo vs Sega. I cannot f****** wait. And with that I’m off to work.”

Those anticipating a Superman exclusive for their Series X system are cautioned because OsirisBlack has been right at times but also wrong. So take this with your usual grain of salt.
GamesRadar+ is unsure if the leak is teasing a Superman game specifically and points out Rocksteady Games repeatedly said it isn’t working on anything Superman.
Previous news and rumors – including those about a game being unveiled at E3 in 2018 – stoking hope for a new Superman game amounted to nothing. One was reportedly in development but scrapped.
As such, Kotaku editor Jason Schreier wasn’t buying them at the time. He posted the following then in response to Rocksteady Games co-founder Sefton Hill who denied a Superman game was on the agenda:
As I said on this week’s Kotaku Splitscreen, the Rocksteady/Superman rumors have always been bullshit! https://t.co/vmWavz4wFc

We do know something Batman-related is in the works from Warner Bros. Games Montreal and it is quite possibly a sequel in the Arkham series begun by Rocksteady. Capture The Knight is the suspected title. Hints and logos have been dropped steadily online since last year.

Xbox Series X, the follow-up home console to Xbox One, was announced at E3 in 2019. Part of a package of unnamed fourth-generation hardware, the system is expected to see release late in the year.
If a Superman game is coming, we should know as E3 draws closer.
