Rumor: Marvel Studios Wants Charlie Cox To Return As Daredevil, Hints At Planned Future For The Man Without Fear
A new rumor indicates that Marvel Studios wants Charlie Cox to reprise his role as Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Cox played Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil in three seasons of the Daredevil Netflix show as well as one season of Defenders.
This new rumor comes from Mikey Sutton at his newly launched Geekosity website.
Sutton writes that “Marvel Studios still wants Charlie Cox in the role. Kevin Feige enjoyed the show, especially Cox’s performance.”
He goes on to add that Cox will more than likely land the role “unless there is a scheduling conflict.”

As for Marvel Studios’ plans for Daredevil, Sutton details that they are looking at another Daredevil centric TV series.
He explains, “While Marvel Studios awaits for his Netflix hold to expire, discussions have been tossed around on what to do with Daredevil besides another TV series, which will happen on one of Disney’s streaming networks.”
Not only are they discussing a new Daredevil TV series, but Sutton also details that he could show up alongside the Avengers. Sutton details, “No solo movies have been talked about but an appearance in an upcoming Avengers adventure is becoming increasingly likely.”
However, it’s unclear that if Daredevil will actually join the Avengers. Sutton explains, “Whether Daredevil joins the Avengers is another matter entirely, but they want him to be their “man on the street” in New York. After all, not every adversary for the Avengers will be cosmic.”
This latest Sutton scoop surrounding Daredevil follows one he shared in May that Marvel Studios was looking to have Cox reprise his role as Daredevil in a Hulu series.

In May, Sutton explained, “First of all, they’re leaning on bringing the series to Hulu instead of FX. The budget will be higher but not on the level of what they’re doing for Disney+.”
He then added that Nick Fury might show up on the show, “They would also like some of the rougher-edged MCU characters to possibly guest on the show like Nick Fury, for instance.”
He did make it clear that this would not be a continuation of the Netflix series, but would be an original series with Marvel Studios’ vision.
Sutton wrote, “But there’s another difference. While Kevin Feige liked the original series, he’s not so keen on continuing what Netflix did and instead incorporate his own vision.”
While Sutton is now indicating that Daredevil might appear in an Avengers adventure, he previously detailed that he might team up with Moon Knight and Ghost Rider to form the Midnight Sons.
“There are no plans for Daredevil to join the Avengers, tho. Marvel Knights? Close. They have talked about Daredevil joining forces with Moon Knight, the Punisher, and Ghost Rider, among others, in the Midnight Sons,” Sutton said.
In April, Cox detailed that he was interested in returning to the character.

He stated, “Look, I had a great time. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did. Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it.”
At the same time he also addressed rumors that he might be showing up in Spider-Man 3. He denied those rumors, “I hadn’t heard those rumors, but it’s certainly not with my Daredevil. I’m not involved in it.”
“If that’s true, it’s not with me. It’s with another actor,” he added.
