Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Explains Why Hawkgirl Won’t Be In The Black Adam Movie
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the star of the upcoming Black Adam movie, explained why Hawkgirl won’t be showing up in the film.
Back in December 2019, a rumor from Charles Murphy at Murphy’s Multiverse claimed that both Hawkman and Hawkgirl would be showing up in the Black Adam film as part of the Justice Society of America.
Not only would they show up, but they would be joined by Atom Smasher, Isis, Doctor Fate, and Stargirl.
Murphy claimed the studio was looking to cast an actress between the ages of 20 and 30 for the role and that she could potentially be spun off into her own franchise one day.

A separate rumor from the DCEULeaks subreddit would also indicate that Hawkgirl would be appearing and that the studio was eyeing Eiza Gonzalez to play the role. That leak also detailed that the characters of Isis, Ibac, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone would be appearing in the film.
During the DC FanDome panel it would be revealed that both Murphy’s and the DCEULeaks subreddit rumors would be partially confirmed as The Rock revealed the film would feature the Justice Society and that the team would be made up of Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher.
The Rock described them as “an organization that believes in fighting for truth and justice.”

It also appears that that Murphy’s original rumor regarding Hawkgirl might have had some truth to it as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson did confirm that she was originally planned to be in the Justice Society team, but was scrapped.
Following the Black Adam official teaser at DC FanDome, The Rock took to social media to share another video to promote Black Adam claiming the film will “change everything.”
THANK YOU #DCFanDome for that absolutely electrifying love and hype for our #BLACKADAM panel.
We’re deeply committed and passionate to the bone to deliver a story you’ll love and build out our DC Universe. #ASlaveNoMore #Rage #TheManInBlack #BlackAdam⚡️@sevenbucksprod pic.twitter.com/fetjegws6K— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) August 23, 2020
He would then be asked by a fan where Hawkgirl was.
The Rock responded writing, “Hawk Girl was in our original JSA team. Sadly, it’s a complicated story I’ll share w the fans down the road. But it opened up the door for another awesome opportunity for another actress to come in and crush the role of Cyclone. I believe it all works out how it’s meant to.”
It’s unclear if Ibac and Isis will appear in the film. Neither character are members of the Justice Society in the comics. It’s possible Ibac could be one of the antagonists of the film.

Another rumor from Charles Murphy leading up to DC FanDome claimed that Ibac would be in the film and hinted that the character might be based on the New 52 version of the character that sees him as a conquering warlord that killed Teth-Adam’s family.
An alleged 4Chan leak back in March claimed to spoil the entire film’s plot. However, that leak also claimed that Hawkgirl was in the film. It also detailed that Isis would more than likely be going by her civilian name of Adrianna Tomaz.
This leak claims Black Adam enlists Tomaz to help him locate the fragments of Isis in order to resurrect his first wife Shiruta.
What do you make of The Rock’s explanation on why Hawkgirl is not in the film?
