New Obi-Wan Kenobi Rumor Claims Kenobi Will Have At Least Two Battles With Darth Vader In The Series

A new Obi-Wan Kenobi rumor claims the Jedi Master will face off against Darth Vader at least twice in the upcoming Disney+ series.

During Disney’s Investor Day 2020 presentation, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced the series would feature a rematch between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

She said, “Obi Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Revenge of the Sith, where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.”

“Our fans will be thrilled that Hayden Christensen will be returning in the role of Darth Vader. This will be the rematch of the century,” she added.

On top of Kennedy’s comments, showrunner Deborah Chow also confirmed the rematch was happening, “We couldn’t tell the story of Obi-Wan without Darth Vader.”

“We will definitely see Obi-Wan and Darth Vader get into it again,” she added.

Chow went on to provide further details in a short teaser video for the show on Disney+.

She said, “This is quite a dark time that we’re coming into with him. Just being a Jedi, it’s not safe. There’s Jedi hunters out there.”

McGregor added, “At least he has this one task left, which is to keep Luke safe.” Chow then states, “That’s definitely a starting place for our story. The interesting this is gonna be where it goes from there.”

Chow would later state, “We couldn’t tell the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi without addressing Anakin or Vader.” McGregor added, “Have another swing at each other, might be quite satisfying for everybody.”

Now, a new rumor from LRM Online claims there won’t just be one battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, but there will be at least two.

The website claims, “We have heard from our sources that Kenobi and Vader will face off not once, but twice in the upcoming series!”

The site goes on to state, “The once friends, now enemies, will have two epic battles against each other that we have been told will rank at the top of Star Wars battles.”

While seeing Vader and Kenobi clash lightsabers again might be an entertaining prospect for some Star Wars fans, the whole idea of them fighting each other again before their battle on the Death Star in the original Star Wars movie doesn’t make a lot of sense.

If you recall in the original film, Vader tells Kenobi, “I’ve been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.”

Kenobi responded, “Only a master of evil, Darth.”

And there might be a reason why it doesn’t make a lot of sense and appears to contradict Lucas’ films.

During the 1981 Revenge of the Jedi Story Conference Lucas explained why Obi-Wan Kenobi didn’t raise Luke Skywalker himself, but instead stays hidden in the deserts of Tatooine.

Lucas said, “Ben takes one and gives him to a couple out there on Tatooine and he gets his little hideout in the hills and he watches him grow. Ben can’t raise Luke himself, because he’s a wanted man.”

What do you make of this new Obi-Wan Kenobi rumor? Are you interested in seeing Kenobi and Vader clash again or do you think this duel will be detrimental to the overall Star Wars story?
