Johnny Depp Spokesperson Says Amber Heard’s Defamation Trial Testimony Was “The Performance Of Her Life”
As the court handling the actor’s ongoing defamation trial against his ex-wife enters into a one week recess, Johnny Depp’s legal team has released a statement claiming that Aquaman actress Amber Heard’s opening and dramatic testimony was nothing less – and nothing more – than “the performance of her life”.
Following an initial day of testimony centered around establishing her general background, Heard delivered her charged testimony on May 5th, therein taking the stand for a second time and accusing Depp of committing a brutal physical and sexual assault against her person during the same infamous Australia fight which resulted in her severing of the former Pirates of the Caribbean star’s finger with a vodka bottle.
Claiming that Depp was in fact the one who actually “threw” not just one but multiple bottles at her – his severed finger allegedly the result of his own unknown actions while out of the actress’ attentions – while maintaining, “I don’t remember if I threw anything in his direction, I don’t think I did” [4:49:00], Heard alleged that during the explosive argument, Depp, “at some point, he’s on top of me, no phone, but screaming the same thing – ‘I f—king hate you, you ruined my f—king life!’”

“I’m on the countertop,” said Heard. “He had me by the neck. It felt like he was on top of me. I’m looking in his eyes and I don’t see him anymore. It wasn’t him, it was black.”
Sobbing, Heard continued, “I haven’t been so scared in my life. I couldn’t see him. He was looking at me. I was trying to get through to him, to say in some way it was me. I was trying to get through to Johnny. I couldn’t see him. I couldn’t see him at all.”
She further alleged [4:54:00], “And my head was bashing against the back of the bar and I couldn’t breathe. And I remember trying to get up and I was slipping on the glass and my feet were slipping and my arms were slipping on the countertop and I remember just trying to get up so I could breathe so I could tell him he was really hurting me, I don’t think he knew what he was doing.”

“The next thing I remember,” Heard told the court, through further tearless sobs. “I was bent over backwards on the bar, my chest was up, I was staring at the blue light, and my back was on the countertop, and I thought he was punching me. I felt this pressure, I felt this pressure on my pubic bone, and I thought he was punching me.”
“I just saw his arm,” recalled Heard. “I could feel his arm moving, and it looked like he was punching me. I could just feel this pressure hitting me – I didn’t feel pain, it was just a pressure on my pubic bone.”
“I don’t remember what I said,” said the Zack Snyder’s Justice League actress. “I just remember being really still, not wanting to move, I remember looking around the room, I remember looking at all the broken bottles, broken glass, and I remember just not wanting to move, because I didn’t know if it was broken, I didn’t know if the bottle that he had inside of me was broken, I couldn’t feel it, I couldn’t feel it, I couldn’t feel pain.”
She added, “I didn’t feel pain, I didn’t feel anything, I just didn’t want it – I looked around and saw so much broken glass, that I didn’t know if he would know if it was broken or not and I just remember thinking ‘Please God, please, I hope it’s not broken.’”
“I just remember being in the bathroom,” she said. “I remember retching. I remember the sound my voice was making. I remember I lost control of my bladder. I remember just retching. I remember there was blood on the floor.”
“I got up at some point, I don’t know how that night ended,” she ultimately concluded of the night’s events. “I don’t remember what happened, I don’t remember – I have a memory of him begging me not to leave. I remember going outside the front door. I remember him coming out to the front area but I don’t remember if that was before or after this, I don’t remember, I just have that memory. I remember taking a bunch of sleeping pills – not a bunch, like, two, which is a lot for me – I remember falling asleep – I don’t remember falling asleep, but I know I fell asleep because I woke up the next day.”
Following the wrapping of that day’s proceedings, Depp’s lawyers, via a spokesperson, issued a statement to People both refuting Heard’s claims and asserting that, “as Mr. Depp’s counsel correctly predicted in their opening statements last month, Ms. Heard did indeed deliver ‘the performance of her life’ in her direct examination.”
“While Ms. Heard’s stories have continued to grow new and convenient details, Mr. Depp’s recollections have remained exactly the same throughout the six painful years since her first allegations were made,” they added. “His truth — the truth — is the same no matter the environment in which it has been presented.”
“The upcoming cross examination from Mr. Depp’s team will be most telling, and will certainly highlight the many fallacies Ms. Heard has now attempted to pass off as fact throughout her convoluted testimony,” the statement declared in conclusion.
In a lengthy counter-statement from Heard’s team sent to the same outlet, a spokesperson for Heard responded, “As evidenced by the statement just released, Mr. Depp’s defamation claim is falling apart so rapidly that his counsel are turning from prosecutor to persecutor.”
“They boast that Mr. Depp’s story has not changed,” the spokesperson said. “If so, since he lost the Domestic Violence Restraining Order and he resoundingly lost the libel case in the UK, perhaps he should consider a new strategy rather than the recycled approach of attacking the victim, and refusing to take responsibility for his own conduct.”
“If Mr. Depp was truly innocent, why has he repeatedly apologized to Ms. Heard and promised to put the ‘monster away for good,’” they asked, adding that one of Heard’s “disappointments” was Depp’s “inability to distinguish fact from fiction — a malady which appears to have spread to his legal team.”
“That same team is so panicked they are fighting tooth and nail to prevent compelling evidence and photos from being introduced,” they continued. “Small wonder Mr. Depp does not have the fortitude or courage to even look at Ms. Heard at all throughout the proceedings — as he could not in the UK trial — and, instead he doodles and snickers.”
“Mr. Depp’s behavior in this trial has been as pitiful as it was in their marriage,” they finally accused. “Apparently, they feel they must double-down on their demonstrably losing two-part strategy: distract the jury and demonize the victim.”
Depp’s $50 Million defamation lawsuit against Heard is set to resume in Fairfax, Virginia on May 16th, with closing arguments currently set for May 27th.
