During the Genshin Impact‘s Version 3.1 Special Programme held on September 16th, developer HoYoverse announced that they would be teaming up with Japanese animation studio Ufotable (Fate/stay night, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaibna) to adapt their insanely popular game for the small screen.
Alongside this announcement, the two companies gave fans some insight on what to expect from their vision if Teyvat by unveiling the Genshin Impact anime’s first concept trailer.
Beginning with an brief-run in with Paimon inside of a lush forest, audiences are taken on a flying tour of the world around them, including the freeing, ancient snowcapped mountains of the Dragonspine region:
And the statues littered around the game’s first region, Mondstadt:
Finally, in the moment that has caused the most stir amongst Genshin Impacts, the trailer ends with the twin protagonists of Lumine and Aether standing side-by-side, hand-in-hand.
This is particularly interesting because the game’s story surrounds the quest by either of the two twins, as chosen by the player, to rescue the other from the clutches of an enigmatic game referred to as the Unknown God.
Given their simultaneous appearances in the trailer, it seems that the anime could feature either an original story which will allow for both twins to go through the events of the game, or possibly a prequel to the events of Genshin Impact.
As of writing, no details regarding cast, crew, or a release date of Genshin Impact have been revealed.
