DC Unveils Jay Garrick Cover for “The Button” Story Arc!
After Geoff Johns’ epic, and I mean epic DC Universe: Rebirth #1 which revealed a potential collision of universes with DC’s mainstay universe and the universe of Alan Moore’s Watchmen, DC Comics will finally explore the mystery and potential connection of these two universes a in new four part story arc, “The Button.”
“The Button” will crossover between Batman and The Flash for issues #21 and #22 for both books.
Writer Tom King and artist Jason Fabok will entertain us in Batman. Joshua Williamson and artist Howard Porter will do the same for The Flash.
DC will plumb the depths of their universes even more. Not only did Johns bring back old school Wally West in [easyazon_link identifier=”1401270727″ locale=”US” tag=”bounintocomi-20″]DC Universe: Rebirth #1[/easyazon_link], but it appears that Jay Garrick will be making his debut in Rebirth during this four part crossover event. Why do we think that? Well DC just gave us an image of Jason Fabok’s glorious cover for The Flash #22.
And they also teased that other characters might besides Jay Garrick might show. They also all but confirmed that the Watchmen are definitely in play. From the press release:
Now, with the reveal of THE FLASH #22’s main image, we see someone not even hinted at in DC UNIVERSE: REBIRTH #1! What does this mean for “The Button,” and who else might show up along the way? The ticking clock starts now… or is it completely smashed?
The ticking clock is definitely a reference to the doomsday clock from [easyazon_link identifier=”1401245250″ locale=”US” tag=”bounintocomi-20″]Watchmen[/easyazon_link] and the fact that the clock could be smashed is groundbreaking and to me confirms the merging of universes.
Take a look at the cover:
DC also revealed the lenticular cover for Batman #22. This cover hints at the Reverse-Flash playing a major role in this story arc. Although his involvement was teased on The Flash #21 cover, which we saw earlier this month. And is that Thomas Wayne?!? It sure looks like him with those two pistols at his hips.
This four part story arc promises to be one for the ages. I know I won’t be missing out on it!
