Marvel Announces Wolverine: Infinity Watch
Marvel Comics announced a brand new series Wolverine: Infinity Watch that will be written by Gerry Duggan with art work by Andy MacDonald.
The new series promises to follow-up on Jason Aaron’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B07365GPVN” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Marvel Legacy #1[/easyazon_link] that saw Wolverine return to the Marvel Universe and take control of the Space Stone following an encounter with a number of Frost Giants.
Marvel didn’t reveal much about the new series except that Wolverine will be adventuring alongside Loki Laufeyson. Writer Gerry Duggan teased the series saying, “The new cosmic status quo will demand…watching…”
Wolverine: Infinity Watch will hits comic book shelves sometime in February 2019. It will feature a cover by artist Giuseppe Camuncoli.
Based on the cover art, it definitely looks like Wolverine might be getting his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet.
If you’ve been following the current [easyazon_link identifier=”1302913565″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Infinity Wars[/easyazon_link] storyline, the Infinity Gauntlet has been claimed by Gamora and she has radically changed the Marvel Universe by creating a warped universe. She wiped out half of all living life by essentially creating amalgamations of Marvel’s favorite heroes. She created Soldier Supreme which combines Doctor Strange and Captain America. Other Marvel Warps characters include Iron Hammer, Punisher Pack, Kamala Kang, Diamond Patch, Weapon Hex, Arachknight, and Ghost Panther.
One can assume that the Marvel Universe will somehow be reset again, and a new Infinity Watch will be created to safeguard the Infinity Stones and prevent the power from falling into the hands of those who might misuse it and wield it for their own personal gain. It’ll be definitely interesting to see how Loki fits into the plan and if this Loki is the one we’ve come to know or if he’s a Loki from an alternate universe. It’s quite possible that could be the case given Duggan introduced us to a Mjolnir wielding Loki in the pages of [easyazon_link identifier=”B07FW671V8″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Infinity Wars #1[/easyazon_link].
Do you plan on checking out Wolverine: Infinity Watch? What kind of mischief do you think Loki and Wolverine can get up to? Do you think they could explore this “original universe?”
