Despite petitions wanting her gone and the controversy she courts in her legal battle with Johnny Depp, Amber Heard is excited to reprise Mera and get started on Aquaman 2.

Promoting a few projects of hers currently filming – including a part in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and CBS All Access’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand – Heard proclaims rather colorfully to “love nerds.”

“I’m super excited about it,” Heard said of The Snyder Cut in a ComicBook.com interview. “We just wrapped on reshoots and I just love nerds. I f—ing love nerds, excuse my language”.

And she says that “love” for them and their passion is why she chooses the projects she does, calling Snyder “a perfect example of a nerd”.

Heard also had kind words for New Mutants director Josh Boone, who’s behind the camera for The Stand.

“You know, I got into this project on The Stand because of another true, die-hard nerd, which is Josh Boone, who connected all of us on this project as he was adapting the book for Stephen [King],” she said.

“And I think it’s just a good rule of thumb to follow, especially in this genre which I love,” Heard continued. “It’s like follow the nerd, the nerd passion is where you want to be.”

Heard then turned to talk about Aquaman 2 which she was confirmed for a few months back via court documents.

“I’m super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we’ll be coming back,” she said. “I’m so excited to film that.”

Production starts in June, according to the same legal papers, countering a rumor Heard was being removed, and perhaps another rumor Mera’s screen time will be reduced. Some believe she will get phased out in favor of a new character in Dolphin.

Other scoops contradict this, saying Mera’s role will increase to satisfy Warner Bros.’ desire for a PG-13 superpowered heroine besides Wonder Woman on the big screen. A solo movie for the Atlantean Queen is also allegedly being discussed.

All that disregards the petition signed by almost 2 million people taking Johnny Depp’s side over Heard’s in the domestic abuse fiasco – which cost him his job on Fantastic Beasts 3 – and resulting libel suit.

Heard blasted it and such campaigns when talking to Entertainment Weekly in November, calling them “Paid rumors and paid campaigns” that “have no basis in reality.”

She also made a distinction between those who started the campaign and the presumably real fans who ” actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen.”
