Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson recently expressed her desire for an all-female Avengers movie at the press junket for the film.
Larson spoke with Screen Rant where she revealed her desire for an all-female Avengers movie.
“I’m scared and I don’t know what the future holds either. I’m not let into those top-secret meetings, so we’ll see. We’ll see what happens. I love all the female characters so much. So of course like that’s what I’m interested in. I’m super into an all-female Avengers movie. Yeah, I think that would just be, it would just be cool to see all of them interact together.”
Larson isn’t the only Marvel Studios actress to pitch an all-female Avengers team. Ant-Man and The Wasp star Evangeline Lilly also pitched an all-female Avengers team that would be lead by Captain Marvel.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has also intimated that a female-led superhero movie could be in the works. He spoke with Entertainment Weekly last year:
“With [Ant-Man and The Wasp] and now with Captain Marvel and many movies to be announced in the near future, I’m anxious for the time where it’s not a novelty that there is a female-led superhero movie, but it is a norm. And it is less a story of, ‘Oh, look, a female hero,’ and it’s more a story of, ‘Oh, what’s this about? Who’s this character? I’m excited to see that.’ And I think we can get there.”
With Marvel’s acquisition of Fox and the X-Men, it will definitely open up the toy box to introduce some of Marvel’s more prominent female characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Storm, Rogue, Jubilee, Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost, Mystique, Jean Grey, Psylocke, Polaris, and many more will all be available. Not to much everyone’s favorite mom, Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four.
Maybe they introduce the X-Men with Captain Marvel and a female-led Avengers teams battling Rogue in an adaptation of Chris Claremont’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B00ZO10Z9G” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Avengers Annual #10[/easyazon_link]. In the original, story Rogue made short work of Captain America after defeating Captain Marvel and absorbing her powers.
