Danger Girl Movie Reportedly Finds Its Director!

A new report indicates that the Danger Girl movie will be directed by Fantasy Island director Jeff Wadlow and is expected to begin shooting in 2020.

Deadline reports Wadlow has been tapped to direct the film and it has been “described as a priority production for the Munich-ased Constantin Film. The movie will adapt J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell’s adventure comic book series. Wadlow previously wrote and directed Universal’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B00GET77OS” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Kick Ass 2[/easyazon_link]. He is also a credited writer on Sony’s Bloodshot film starring Vin Diesel. His other credits include Truth or Dare and Never Back Down.

Abbey teams up with Sydney Savage and Natalie Kasstle as they are guided by a former British Secret Service Agent who goes by the name Deuce. The comic debuted in March 1998  under Jim Lee’s Wildstorm Imprint and became an instant hit combining Charlie’s Angels, James Bond, and Indiana Jones.

The adventures of the Danger Girls led them into conflict with the villainous Hammer Syndicate. They would traverse the globe and prevent the Hammer Syndicate from acquiring a number of mystical objects. While the older stories focused on Abbey Chase as a member of the Danger Girls, the more recent miniseries saw Abbey Chase going solo as she sought to learn more about her past and her father.

Deadline notes that Umair Aleem will write the script for the film, but Wadlow will do rewrite work. Aleem is an upcoming writer who recently sold his action thriller Kate to Netflix. He also wrote 2015’s  Extraction starring Bruce Willis and Gina Carano.

The live-action Danger Girl adaptation will be produced by Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film, Jeremy Bolt of JB Pictures, and Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe Films. Constantin Film’s Martin Moszkowicz will serve as an executive producer alongside J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell.
