Dave Bautista Weighs in on James Gunn and Suicide Squad

Drax actor Dave Bautista is excited about the news that James Gunn will be penning the script for DC Films’ upcoming Suicide Squad film and the possibility that he might direct.

Bautista’s initial reaction was to ask, “Where do I sign up!”

A number of fans were quick to suggest that Bautista should be Bane.

If DC does decide to cast Bautista as Bane, it’s not unforeseeable to see a casting controversy erupt as Bautista is not Brazilian like Bane is in the comics. It’s not unheard of as Daniel Dae Kim just recently replaced Ed Skrein in Hellboy after a controversy erupted over the ethnicity of Major Ben Daimio.

Others suggested King Shark.

Or even Mr. Freeze.

Bautista wouldn’t be the only actor to show his support for the director and ask to be involved in the project. Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum also indicated he’d like to join. Rosenbaum played Martinex in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

It’s not surprise that Bautista would be one of the first actors to want to join Gunn’s next project. He was the most outspoken in Gunn’s defense both before and after Disney fired him. In fact, Bautista would go so far as to question whether or not he would ever work for Disney again. That came after Bautista threatened to have Disney release them from his contract, or even cut or recast him for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 if they did not use James Gunn’s script.

Would you want to see Dave Bautista in Gunn’s upcoming Suicide Squad film? Who would you want to see him play? Would you like Michael Rosenabaum to join him?
