DC Studios Co-Head James Gunn Snipes At YouTuber ‘The Den Of Nerds’ After Being Repeatedly Accused Of Disliking Henry Cavill
With the ease of interaction facilitated by the rise of social media, recent years have seen the fan-creator dynamic go completely off the deep-end – and as evidenced by a recent back-and-forth between a YouTuber and DC Studios co-head James Gunn, it’s likely not going to get any better any time soon.
Things began on December 10th when YouTuber The Den of Nerds tweeted out as a statement of fact, “James Gunn does not like Henry Cavill”.
Before he could offer an explanation to his claim, the conversation took a decisive turn when a fan tagged The Suicide Squad director and asked him for comment on the YouTuber’s assertion.
Asked by @SwaggB_23 “Care to debunk this one?”, Gunn responded through his personal account, “Sure: false.”

Though the conversation could have amicably ended here, even if it meant both men choosing to voluntarily ignore any further discussion of the topic, it is at this point that Gunn and The Den of Nerds let their respective egos get the best of them.
In response to Gunn, The Den of Nerds shot back a seemingly sarcastic, “Even more ppl have reached out to me since you said this to tell me you really don’t like him.”
“Just saying what I heard,” he added.

Missing his own chance to simply move on, Gunn then countered, “So weird. You seemed so plugged in! Anyway, I just had forty people reach out to me to say you just got kicked out of your Mom’s basement. So sorry, man.”
In response to this jab, The Den of Nerds dismissed, “I dunno why he got so triggered, but after all the clout this tweet will bring me I can finally move out of the basement!”
Though Gunn offered no further comment on the subject, The Den of Nerds proceeded to seemingly corncob about the topic throughout the day, throwing out such tweets as “I’m still really excited about James Gunn’s DCU! Even though he clearly HATES Henry Cavill”:
And “James Gunn might like Henry Cavill more than he likes me” between defensively responding to a number of his critics:
Despite his initial reaction, The Den of Nerds would return to the topic the next day to admit to his poor handling of the situation.
“In all seriousness, I could have handled yesterday much better,” tweeted the YouTuber. “I’ll hold the L on that. I’m gonna be really fair in my response video and stream, but I did hear what I heard. Hope I’m wrong and we get more Cavill!”
However, in his eventual response video, The Den of Nerds was far more reluctant to take responsibility for his own actions, instead choosing to pass the buck for the entire affair onto Gunn.

“As for James Gunn bodying me on Twitter yesterday, I guess the whole question is, ‘Did I f–k up?’ and my honest answer is…kind of?” said the YouTuber. “I thought a lot about the exchange that happened and I can see how in James Gunn’s mind, maybe he felt like I was literally calling him a liar to his face.”
“I actually have other theories as to why he reacted the way that he reacted,” The Den of Nerds noted, “but I can see this side of him really wanting to rebuke or debunk this person he probably considers to be a total rando essentially saying things that even if they were true, are uncomfortable truths, and probably nothing he would admit to in a public social setting.”
