Actor Jeremy Renner, perhaps best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has provided an update on his recovery after surviving a horrific snow plow accident in January of last year.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier, the resilient actor explained that he’s now almost at his full capacity, declaring, “[I’m doing] probably 90 percent of all the things I needed to be doing… I think another six months will be hopefully running [more].”
“I got to set goals for myself. I’ll do whatever I can… whatever it takes to get better, to get stronger,” Renner said, adding, “It’s a one-way street, this recovery. The rest of my life is about health and wellness. Recovery will be part of the rest of my life, so I look forward to it, man.”
He went on, “There’s always something to do to get better, be stronger, be happier, be healthier, and that’s what I look forward to. It’s hard for me to look back, to be honest with you. It’s hard for me to look forward. I focus on now and this next step in front of me, ’cause there’s always another obstacle for me right now.”
Specifically addressing his recovery, the actor describes it as a “harrowing” experience, noting, “I can’t believe I’m sitting here right now. I’m very grateful. I’m very happy that I’m moving forward in life, and I’m happy to share this life with the amazing people who I love.”

The actor would also go on to explain that his recovery inspiring others has been somewhat “overwhelming,” elaborating, “I’m glad I can be a barometer for somebody. I’m glad I can inspire somebody.”
“If all I have to do is just get better, I mean, I did that for my family. My healing let their healing begin, so I guess that happened for other people as well,” he added.
“I never expected that my voice or my healing would speak in volumes for so many people, but I’m glad it does, man,” Renner declared. “It makes me feel righteous. It makes me feel like I can never be lazy. I can never have a bad day. I’m pretty blessed. It’s a great honor.”
Now that Renner has almost fully recovered from his injuries, Frazier asks the actor about the possibility of making a return to the MCU in future Avengers instalments. “I’m always game. I’m gonna be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’ll be ready.”
“All those guys come to my bedside and they’ve been with me all along through this recovery, so… if they want me, they could have me. It would be something,” Renner said.
On the 1st of January, 2023, Renner was ran over by his 14,000-pound PistenBully snowcat in Reno, Nevada. According to a 911 call log obtained by Fox News Digital, the Marvel star was “completely crushed” under the snow plow and was reported to have difficulty “breathing.”
The log also noted that the Avengers actor was “bleeding heavily from his head and other unknown injuries,” with the caller surmising that Renner’s “right side of his chest is collapsed” and “upper torso is crushed.”
“We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023,” read a statement from Renner’s representative, Deadline reported at the time. “He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.”
Renner himself would take to social media to offer an update on his condition, just a couple of days after the horrific snow plow accident, sharing, “Thank you all for your kind words. Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”
The Marvel star has been periodically sharing recovery updates to his social media. To commemorate the 10 months since the near-fatal accident, Renner thanked fans for their continued support and shared a short clip of him training and making his way up a fairly steep hill.
“Today marks the day on 10 months of recovery,” the actor wrote. “First attempt at any of this activity (especially at steep grade) and was brought to tears of joy, hopefulness, and gratitude for all your support along with my family and friends…. I keep pushing for many reasons, but you are my fuel.”
