Lord to the Max

Talking about the film’s story and cast, Warner Bros. divulged a key piece of intel – who Pedro Pascal plays. If you’ve followed our spoiler coverage, you already know he is Maxwell Lord. The studio officially confirmed this, referring to him simply as Max Lord.

In part, the press release had this to say about the film:

“Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing all-new foes. Director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot in the title role, alongside Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Jenkins directs from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham, story by Jenkins and Johns.”

Typically linked to the Justice League, Lord is a metahuman with the power of mind control. In WW1984, it’s speculated he is a Senator and a Russian spy possessing an ability to grant wishes, which may be what brings back Steve Trevor, and what turns Barbara Minerva into Cheetah.

Lord appeared in live action once before as a foe on Supergirl where he was portrayed by Peter Facinelli.

Plot details are a secret but we know it takes place during the 80s and the Cold War. Origins and character traits are expected to be different. It’s suspected Max Lord is the main villain and Barbara Minerva is an obsessed fan of Diana who wants to be a hero. In addition to the power of Lord, a magic totem plays a part in her transformation.

CCXP goes down Dec. 8th in Sao Paulo.
