Robin Death Theory In Batman v Superman Partially Confirmed by Costumer
A theory about Robin in the DC Extended Universe we shared yesterday is partially confirmed.
The update comes from Batman v Superman costume designer Douglas J. Stewart who posted a close-up of the defaced Robin costume’s gauntlet.
He verified Robin “was brutally murdered and then set ablaze by the Joker.” Zack Snyder and David Ayer both say it was Dick Grayson.
Stewart explained they had to show and tell the story nonverbally – in keeping with the old adage for screenwriters – through the tattered suit without giving too much away.
“The story had to be told in the salvaged costume on display inside the Batcave,” he said. “Aging and specialty distressing needs to tell these unscripted tales that support the main framework of the film.”

And they had a mere matter of days to do it. “Here we had to create a Robin Suit in a matter of days,” he added.
The materials were on hand and they had to figure out how to bring it all together. “Using what we had and then figure out how to modify it all as well as building the support interior,” Stewart continued. “It was a lot of fun.”
In a more recent update, Stewart provided more details about how they created the suit. He stated, “Robin, started with the cannibalized stunt bat suit. Snipped, nipped, trimmed and tucked. A Robin suit was in there.”
He added, “Wrapped on a special fiberglass form to enhance his anatomy.”
So that’s a theory confirmed. What we still don’t know is if Joker burned Wayne Manor and knows Bruce Wayne is Batman like the theory additionally asserted.
Zack Snyder liked the Vero post putting it forth, lending credibility to the whole thing, but he probably won’t tell us until his Cut of Justice League is streaming on HBO Max.
Jared Leto’s Joker allegedly has new scenes that will give him a darker edge and may fill in a few gaps in his character arc – including actions that drove Batman to the edge.
