A new rumor claims that Amber Heard’s screentime in the Aquaman sequel, Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom, is “less than 10 minutes.”

This new rumor comes from scooper and film critic Grace Randolph, who shared on Twitter, “I hear Amber Heard has less than 10 min of screentime in Aquaman 2.”

This rumor is the latest in a slew that have swirled around Heard following accusations made by her ex-husband Johnny Depp that she physically abused him and even cut off his finger after throwing a whiskey bottle at him.

Back in October 2020, Randolph claimed that Heard was definitely going to appear in the Aquaman sequel, but bad press could lead to her role seeing reduced screentime.

She tweeted, “Amber Heard is definitely in Aquaman 2. HOWEVER they are shooting so that Depp & Heard’s roles can be decreased if bad press…”

“Also new female character will be in Aquaman 2,” she added.

Randolph would follow-up that October scoop with one in December 2020 claiming that “James Wan wants new Aquaman female lead to be Asian actress.”

She then reiterated, “As I told you before, they are bringing on this new female lead to balance things out, and writing the script so that Heard’s role can be cut down if needed. But as of right now she’s still in Aquaman 2.”

More recently a report claimed that Warner Bros. didn’t even want to bring Heard back for Aquaman 2.

Matthew Belloni at Puck claimed, “Warner Bros. initially declined to pick up Heard’s option for Aquaman 2, I’m told, despite the first film grossing $1.1 billion.”

He even speculated that this might become public record as Walter Hamada, President of DC Films, reportedly took part in a deposition for Johnny Depp’s defamation lawsuit against Heard.

Belloni detailed, “Hamada is said to have testified that Heard was initially not picked up because there were concerns about her chemistry with star Jason Momoa. Indeed, the duo have publicly referenced issues on set during the first film. But Heard’s team believed the Depp scandal was the real cause of the reluctance.”

However, Aquaman 2 producer Peter Safran appeared to claim in July 2021 that the studio didn’t consider removing Heard from the cast.

Safran responded to a question on whether the studio takes into consideration fan campaigns to remove actors from roles saying, “I don’t think we’re ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure.”

“You gotta do what’s best for the movie,” he continued. “We felt that if it’s James Wan, and Jason Momoa, it should be Amber Heard. That’s really what it was.”

The producer then noted, “One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter-verse, but that doesn’t mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes.”

“You have to do what’s right for the film, and that’s really where we landed on it,” he concluded.
