In light of the recent news that Netflix’s ‘Defenders’ series of Marvel shows will soon be departing Netflix, Luke Cage creator Cheo Hodari Coker has voiced his wish for the series to remain unedited whenever Disney chooses to re-air it.

Word that Marvel’s street level heroes would leave their original production platform was first made public on February 11th, when audiences discovered that each of Marvel’s offerings on Netflix – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders – had been slapped with a warning on informing them that the respective shows would only be “available until March 1st.”

Taking to “rewatching Luke Cage while I can on Netflix” in light of this news, Coker eventually took to his personal Twitter on February 21st to reveal his hopes – however far fetched they may be – that Disney would treat his work with respect.

“[Disney is] going to do what they do. It’s theirs,” admitted Coker. ”I just hope they don’t sit on it for years to allow for an easier reboot, or re-air it with a different mix, or the N-Word muted.”

He further expressed interest in not only returning “to do commentary tracks,” but also the minute chance that Disney may bring back Luke Cage’s “original credits.”

“The original credits, before we did our more conventional bumpers, was LUKE CAGE in a yellow American International Pictures/’Tarantino’ font,” explained Coker. “The jogging sequence from 106 was the original opening, with Luke jogging to Bill Withers ‘Harlem’.”

Coker then went on to author a lengthy thread filled with numerous behind-the-scenes insights into his time working on the series before eventually returning to his idea of providing commentary tracks with the proposition, “After I get some more of this writing done, I’ll do a live rewatch of a few episodes….or maybe there’s a way for me to do youtube commentary rewatches, which would be fun. I could get into the triumphs…and blunders…hopefully without getting sued…”

On February 23rd, Screen Rant executive and editorial director Rob Keyes shared a piece of promotional material, ostensibly from Disney themselves, indicating that all six of Marvel’s Netflix series would be arriving on the Canadian edition of Disney Plus on March 16th.

“For context, this is from Disney+ in Canada where we have STAR for Hulu content and such,” he added. “Waiting on US response.”

As of writing, the American streaming future of Matt, Jessica, Luke, Danny, and Frank remains unclear.
