After Announcing Dragon Ball Z 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition – Fans Blast Funimation for Firing of Vic Mignogna!

Funimation recently announced a 30th Anniversary Collector’s edition for Dragon Ball Z that will feature the full series on Blu-ray as well as a full artbook, an exclusive collectible figure and more. However, there is a caveat. Funimation requires 2500 people to sign up for the Collector’s Edition with their email.

They made the announcement on their YouTube Community page, but instead of their fans getting excited about the announcement, many blasted the company for their firing of voice actor Vic Mignogna, who played Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

YouTuber YellowFlash documented a number of the comments fans had regarding Funimation and their treatment of Vic Mignogna

While some fans blasted the company, others simply stated their support for Vic Mignogna with some writing, “Stand with Vic until there’s proof!” Another questioned, “Hey Funimation whatever happened to innocent before proven guilty huh?” Another wrote, “Great but why you gotta do Vic dirty like that.”

Others made it clear they would not buy anything from Funimation with some suggesting they will be boycotting the company. One user wrote, “Time to boycott the ever living s*** out of this. #IstandwithVic.” Another added, “I stand with Vic bud I’m not buying 💩 form you.” Still another wrote, “Hahaha y’all real cute I ain’t buying s*** from y’all after how dirty y’all did Vic”

Dragon Ball Super: Broly voice actor Vic Mignogna was fired by Funimation after he was accused of sexual misconduct by a number of women including two female voice actors Jamie Marchi and Monica Rial.

Funimation explained they fired Mignogna and recast him in Morose Monokean Season 2 after an investigation. They also stated they would no longer be “engaging Mignogna in future productions.” However, a report from i09 indicates Funimation had actually performed a previous investigation into Vic Mignogna and found the allegations against Mignogna were inconclusive.

Not only was Mignogna fired by Funimation, but Rooster Teeth also replaced Mignogna in RWBY.

Mignogna has denied the allegations multiple times. He recently indicated he has hired a law firm to “attempt to salvage my reputation and my 20-year career in this industry.” Lawyer and YouTuber Nick Rekeita launched a GoFundMe for Mignogna’s legal team with the goal of $100,000. It has currently raised over $93,000. Mignogna is being represented by Beard Harris Bullock Hughes Attorneys at Law.
