Novelist Brian Niemeier To Give Prime Video Viewers A Reprieve From ‘Rings Of Power’ With His New Tolkien-Esque ‘The Burned Book’
Novelist Brian Niemeier launched a crowdfund campaign for his newest novel, The Burned Book, that aims to please fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and Glen Cook’s The Black Company.
The Burned Book is the first novel in Niemeier’s Arkwright Cycle, which also happens to be a prequel story to his four-book award-winning Soul Cycle series.
On the IndieGoGo crowdfund page, Niemeier details The Burned Book plunges “readers into a haunting world of dark magic and deep mystery.”

Specifically, the series will follow a character named Zebrin as he “wanders the human-dominated mainland, having fled his people’s rigid island refuge. Alone in barbaric lands, he yearns to find himself in those his race shuns.”
The official description continues, “But when an ambitious emperor drafts him for a harrowing mission to the farthest ends of the world, will he discover and embrace his divine calling? Or will the kingdom he was ordained to save fall? The answer lies in the Burned Book.”
Along with Zebrin, the campaign promises to see him unite with a “disillusioned priest seeking release from fate” and a “restless son of a fading race seeking his destiny.”
The IndieGoGo campaign has a number of different perks aside from The Burned Book in both digital and print. It also includes digital and physical editions for the other books in his Soul Cycle series.
Backers also have the option to be in The Burned Book and to be killed in the The Burned Book. There’s even option to work with Niemeier to create a weapon that will be featured in the novel.
Other options include editing, an author chat, and other novelists can advertise their own book.
The digital editions of The Burned Book are expected to arrive in inboxes in February while the print paperback edition will arrive in March.
