Arkhaven Comics and Vox Day, the Publisher of Arkhaven Comics, recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for their ongoing vampire series Midnight’s War.
The series, written by Vox Day and Chuck Dixon with art by Brazilian artist Ademir Leal and colored by Blond and Leal, takes place following a catastrophic global economic crisis that ushered in the rule of the vampire lords, who came out of the shadows and exerted their complete control over humanity by taking over the media, national governments, the financial system, and other major international institutions.
They created a new dark world order under The Great Concord of Gomorrah that secured “the rights and duties of Man and Vampire alike.” It also ushered in a new monetary system “backed by human blood, and a global tax was introduced to ensure humanity’s new rules that their endless thirst would never again go unslaked.”
However, not all of humanity submitted to the Great Concord, and interestingly enough not all human blood is palatable to the vampires and their lords.
Twelve men joined together to form the Knights of Saint Michael and the Catacombs of Rome. Armed with their faith and blood that is poison to the vampires, they set out to wage a crusade against the vampire lords and their new world under of the Midnight World.
The series is currently free to read on Arkhaven Comics’ digital platform Arkhaven and currently has over 56 episodes published to date. According to the site’s metrics it’s one of the more popular titles on the site and has over 250,000 views.
The new Kickstarter will collect the first six issues of the series that are currently available to read on Arkhaven.com. However, it also offers collected editions of issues 7-12 as well. These issues continue the story of Dante Fitzalan, Arika su-Fitzalan, Julian Varney, Denisa Denue Remords, and Andre Montbard and “follows the bitter vendetta being fought between two of the rival vampire factions, a vendetta that was, unbeknownst to both factions, caused by a hostile third party.”
Not only that it also offers a collection of a new Chuck Dixon spinoff series, Midnight’s War: Night Streets, which is described as a “police procedural set within the Midnight World that features characters introduced in Midnight’s War as well as entirely new characters.”
On top of standard trade paperback collected editions, the Kickstarter also features a leatherbound collector’s edition that collects all 12 issues of the main Midnight’s War story.
The Kickstarter also reveals “The interior will (probably) be printed in black-and-white in order to permit Smyth-sewing and maintain the highest level of binding integrity. The cover stamping will be 22k gold. The leather will be top-grain Italian cowhide.”
There will also be Midnight’s War collectibles available to order. The first has been revealed as one of the Knights of St. Michael and the Catacombs of Rome.
The Kickstarter launched earlier today and has already raised $11,487 from 62 backers. It has a goal of $31,810.
