Ghostbusters 3 Teaser Trailer Released!
Following the announcement of a Ghostbusters sequel, a teaser trailer has appeared online.
Take a look:
As expected, the clip is filled with nostalgia. However, the setting is quite different than New York City. Instead, it appears we are out in the country during a rainy night as a storm appears to brew in the distance.
The camera eventually begins to close in on a barn, where it appears someone is working on one of the Ghostbusters’ iconic proton packs. We even some ectoplasm on the fence. As we get closer to the barn we hear Elmer Bernstein’s magnificent score from the library scene in the original film.
Once we are finally inside the barn, whoever is working on the proton-pack appears to have gotten it fully powered up. The discharge from the proton pack lifts the tarp of a vehicle revealing the original Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters’ iconic car.
Entertainment Weekly reveals this teaser is supposed to raise a number of questions:
“Whose lonely property is this? What became of Stantz, Spengler, Zeddemore, and Venkman? Why is a vehicle once used to save the world from demonic takeover gathering dust in the middle of nowhere?”
Jason Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, will direct this new Ghostbusters film. Reitman confirmed the film would take place in the same continuity as the original Ghostbusters movie.
“This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
Jason’s father described the pitch his son gave him as “emotional and funny.” He even declared he was “crying by the end of it.”
The new Ghostbusters movie is expected to come to theaters in the Summer of 2020.
